Advice, counsel, recommendation, suggestion, persuasion, exhortation refer to opinions urged with more or less force as worthy bases for thought, opinion, conduct, or action. Exhortation suggests an intensified persuasion or admonition, often in the form of a discourse or address: an impassioned exhortation.
