Saariaho’s flute concerto “L’Aile du Songe,” from 2001, was a quietly personal touch of programming: Mälkki, who like Saariaho lives in Paris, is a friend and eminent interpreter of her music.

Titled “Hermès à tire-d’aile – Les mondes de Leïla Menchari,” which loosely translates as “The Hermès Worlds of Leïla Menchari,” the exhibition is set to run from Nov. 8 to Dec. 3.

Saariaho’s partner in the creation of many of her new pieces for flute, including for her outstanding flute concerto “L’aile du songe” from 2001, has been the flutist Camilla Hoitenga.
