For their investigations, the researchers combined physiological studies - such as imaging techniques to visualise processes in the fly brain, chemical analyses of environmental odours, and behavioural studies.

Roblox also says it analyses all communications that pass between members on the platform, increasingly using more advanced AI systems and other tech to do so - and anything flagged is sent for further investigation.

The agency said it was “working on reducing that risk” by developing interim procedures and carrying out “additional analyses.”

Whether that has had the projected effect is uncertain; reams of law-review pages and financial analyses have been filled with conjecture, but it’s hard to nail down the effect.

It’s unclear whether those projects can move forward without such analyses.
