A United States Naval Academy physics major and Tulane medical school graduate, Olson worked as a clinical and anatomical pathology resident at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

“What is the choice?” asks Perovskyi’s colleague Pavlo Snisarevskij, head of the hospital’s anatomical pathology department.

Tracey Biggs, a service manager at St Thomas's, is also an anatomical pathology technician.

“People in anatomical pathology with scalpels in their hands, dissecting tumors that were just removed. And that’s not something up front and center on anybody’s ability to see. But nonetheless, it’s crucial.”
