Prolonged exposure has been linked to higher rates of liver angiosarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Mr. Abloh learned he had cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare heart cancer, in July 2019, but they had decided to keep his illness secret from all but his closest friends.

Abloh died Nov. 28 at age 41 from cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare type of cancer afflicting the heart.

The announcement of his death, which was posted to his official Instagram page on Sunday afternoon, stated that for more than two years he had privately “battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma.”

“For over two years, Virgil valiantly battled a rare, aggressive form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma,” the statement added.
