Recall announcements for the stainless-steel-clad electric pickup began in February when Tesla recalled nearly all of its vehicles including the Cybertruck because some warning lights on the instrumental panel — the brake, park and antilock brake indicators — were too small, making it hard to read.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Office of Defects Investigation is reviewing 16 Hyundai and Kia recalls conducted since 2016 that involve more than 6 million vehicles for potential antilock braking system module fires.

The recalls all involve the antilock braking system modules or hydraulic electronic control units made by the equipment supplier Mando.

The antilock brake warning light could come on, and they could smell something burning or melting, or see smoke coming from the engine compartment.

This time the problem is contamination in the antilock brake control module that can cause an electrical short.
