Trump’s lawyers filed an appeal last week with the New York State Appellate Division of the Supreme Court where they argued New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud lawsuit was an “unauthorized, unprecedented power-grab.”

Trump is going to appeal, obviously, but I know the judges on the Appellate Division First Department l in Manhattan fairly well.

After Trump has been sentenced, his legal team can file a direct appeal to the First Judicial Department of New York’s Appellate Division, and they’ll also have 30 days to do that.

All of those issues have to be in the record to be appealable and are the basis for a potential success before the Appellate Division.

The middle layer court is called the Appellate Division.
