She has fond memories of watching her grandmother weave on a backstrap loom while growing up in La Cañada Flintridge, and found that she was just as skilled at computer programming as she was at making textiles.

In her spare time, she weaves colorful huipiles with motifs of birds and flowers on a backstrap loom.
