SMC member Mitchell Hunter grew up as a tomboy — “a rough and tumble girl, in the South — the captain of the ‘All-Boys Club’ fort in my backyard — balancing bare-chested on my banana seat.

From a distance, there’s something utterly nostalgic about that long banana seat and low-slung frame that speaks to me, or least to my inner 10-year-old and his sparkly green Schwinn Stingray.

“It was one of those Schwinn five-speeds with a banana seat,” she said.

"My best Christmas gift ever was my first two-wheeled bike. It was green and had a cool banana seat and high handlebars. I named it the Green Hornet. I’ll never forget my first ride on it, which sadly was a disaster! I couldn’t wait to ride it, and I slid on the ice as I took it down the driveway, crashing hard. I was seven when I got that bike, and all these years later — I’m 60 now! — I remember the joy that bike brought me."

In addition, the Chopper is sporting many customized features: a long-and-low banana seat that’s supported by a custom stainless-steel sissy bar, and a high-rise handlebar that creates a comfortable riding position for laid-back cruising.
