The Securities and Exchange Commission sued Sun and his crypto companies — Tron Foundation, BitTorrent Foundation and Rainberry — in March 2023, Reuters reported.

Sun then moved to the U.S., and in June of 2018, Tron acquired the iconic peer-to-peer protocol BitTorrent, making him CEO of the company that had facilitated so much media piracy and transforming it into a more crypto-ready platform, with its own native token and all.

The indictment alleged that Pilar used BitTorrent, a digital file-sharing protocol, to knowingly receive 400-plus videos and images of child sex abuse material in February and April 2020.

In 2007, Comcast was caught degrading traffic from the file-sharing service BitTorrent, which held contracts to distribute licensed content from Hollywood studios and other sources in direct competition with Comcast’s pay-TV business.

In the meantime, the best option for those needing their pornography fix is the simplest: Don’t use BitTorrent.
