Now, months later, scientific testing has confirmed that the fish is a very rare – very bright – bigmouth buffalo fish.

The day before, he and others had hauled 1,200 pounds of carp and some buffalo fish out of the Mississippi River.

He says they catch bighead carp, silver carp, grass carp and buffalo fish.
