"The final step in synthesis, called spark plasma sintering, is an emerging method in materials science that is common in research labs," said William Fahrenholtz, the Curators' Distinguished Professor of Ceramic Engineering at Missouri S&T.

Park and colleagues, including Kwang-Bum Kim of Yonsei University and Kwang Chul Roh of the Korea Institute of Ceramic Engineering & Technology, decided to take this second route.

They had majored in such subjects as radio journalism, labor relations, business management, insect control and ceramic engineering.

At first the course contained only a little technical work, but in course of time specialized work was increased; and later courses were established in mining and mechanical engineering, and more recently followed specialized courses in architecture, electrical engineering, marine engineering, chemical engineering, and ceramic engineering—about in the order named.
