"Phages can knock on every biological door, but they will only enter the ones they are programmed to find," says Carlos Filipe, a professor of chemical engineering and a senior authior on the paper.

"We are the first group to show that you can produce hydrogen utilizing biomass at a fraction of a volt," said Singh, associate professor in the department of chemical engineering.

Their work was published in Chemical Engineering Journal, an international journal in the field of chemical engineering.

Tong and Cai, in collaboration with chemical engineering and materials science and engineering graduate students, have developed an innovative approach to employ cytokine proteins as a potential immunotherapy treatment.
