Twitter has been working with Cortico, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the M.I.T.

On its company blog, Twitter said it was inspired by Cortico, a nonprofit research organization that is trying to measure “conversational health” with four indicators: shared attention, shared reality, variety of opinion and receptivity.

Media Lab, became a founder and the chairman of Cortico, a nonprofit that is developing tools to measure public conversations online to gauge attributes like shared attention, variety of opinion and receptivity.

In support of its new stance, Mr Dorsey tweeted a link to an organisation called Cortico.

Yet even Cortico acknowledged, “We don’t pretend to have all the answers to how these health indicators will work in practice. We will need to learn through experimentation.”
