The degree of curve error thus induced is sufficient that the form of tooth produced cannot with propriety be termed epicycloidal teeth, except in the case of fine pitches in which the arc of a circle may be employed to so nearly approach the true curve as to be permissible as a substitute.

Note.—When the flanks are desired to be curved instead of radial, it is necessary to the use of the instrument to select and assume a value for the degree of curve, as is done in the table in the column marked “Degree for flank curving;” in which 1.5 slight—a slight curvature of flank.
