Don't try to operate your spark coil with 110-volt alternating lighting current without connecting in an electrolytic interrupter.

Where more energy is needed it is better practice to use a transformer and this can be worked on an alternating current of 110 volts, or if only a 110 volt direct current is available then an electrolytic interrupter must be used to make and break the current.

As the electrolytic interrupter will only operate in one direction, you must connect it with its platinum, or alloy anode, to the + or positive power lead and the lead cathode to the - or negative power lead.

An electrolytic interrupter can be bought for as little as $3.00.
