Captured by Ann Johnson Prum’s high-speed cinematography and macro lenses, the hummingbirds are simply stunning: otherworldly creatures of shimmery hues and feathery beauty.

Returning to the trail, with its soothing chorus of crickets, velvety laurel sumac shrubs and feathery wild grasses, something inside me loosened.

These feathery needles rhythmically dance back and forth on sweeping branches in gentle breezes.

It’s about the way that trees, when viewed from below, seem to became one with the sky, reaching endlessly with feathery fingers into the unknown.

At the moment it feels feathery soft, but with a simple command I can make it hard as a rock, as airy as a cloud, or as turbulent as ocean waves during a storm.
