Each tissue sample was stained with a pair of stains called hematoxylin and eosin—or H&E—to turn different tissue structures pink or blue.

On the basis of technology, the slide stainers market is segmented into hematoxylin and eosin, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, cytology, microbiology, hematology, and special staining.

To address these challenges, we developed a computational approach based on standard hematoxylin and eosin–stained tissue sections and demonstrated its power in a discovery and validation cohort of 323 and 241 breast tumors, respectively.

It is rather small for dissection, but very good complete series were obtained and stained in hematoxylin.
