The three friends founded their first company, a software consulting firm called Intwine, at nearby Reston Town Center.

They moved to New York when Intwine was acquired.

Intwine Connect is developing technology platforms for monitoring and managing business-critical performance data, energy management applications and indoor air quality, among other things.

“The ability to connect devices to each other and to the cloud will be essential for businesses of all kinds and their consumers,” says Dave Martin, founder and CEO of Intwine Connect.

There’s a VGo telepresence robot, a bike clip monitor made by Wimm Labs, and a sensor made by Intwine that can detect humidity data in a room and even paint fumes, and relay it to the web in real time.
