For the past two years, labor demand in manufacturing has exceeded that of other parts of the chip-making process, such as designing the circuit boards or packaging them after they are made, according to the local recruitment platform 104 Job Bank.

Taiwan’s largest job search platform, 104 Job Bank, had over 33,000 listings for chip industry jobs as of August.

Renee Ward, who runs a nationwide job bank called Seniors4Hire, said her organization has seen an uptick in people trying to come out of retirement or retirees needing to supplement their income.

Operating out of West Hartford Town Hall, the Seniors Job Bank, founded in 1974, connects people over 50.

One of the more unusual requests of the Job Bank’s roster of available workers was from a blind man who wanted someone to roller skate with him.
