And the bold, primary colors in the works — cobalt blue, lemon yellow, scarlet red — brighten an otherwise benign, utilitarian space connecting staircases.

This shocking coral fungi can resemble licking tongues of flame, ranging from lemon yellow to a burnt orange.

But in the fall, it takes on the appearance of a one-stop seasonal shop: bundles of Indian corn speckled with jewel-tone purples, lemon yellows and deep auburn.

For the show, Mr. Nadin chose to paint the space, and the canvasses, a garishly bright lemon yellow.
