The former lifeboatman said it was "just lovely" to be able to return the jewellery to its owner.

The lifeboatman, who will retire on Thursday and marks his 65th birthday next month, is one of the longest serving members of the RNLI.

Lifeboatman Brian Willis said: "I used to dream about it, it was so bad. We went miles that day - we were out 12-13 hours and never found a thing. It upset a lot of people, it upset me because I had young children myself."
