“I feel like we won the lottery,” Ausra said as they walked out of Thursday’s Mass of the Lord’s Supper.

“It was very meaningful for them when we were able to see them on a monthly basis, have a devotion and bring them the Lord’s Supper because they very much missed the community of being in Bible class and being in worship with the rest of the congregation,” he said.

Since mid-March, I have not attended worship gatherings save for a single service held in a parking lot with rigorous social distancing and a makeshift observance of the Lord’s Supper.

“If a 16-year-old gives out a hamburger at McDonald’s and is qualified to give me a Happy Meal, then a pastor can certainly have the wisdom and direction to give out the Lord’s Supper in safe manner,” Shook said.

Last year, he celebrated the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at a medium-security prison and washed the feet of 12 inmates.
