Don Sundman, a veteran postage stamp dealer whose Mystic Stamp Company in Camden, New York, owned the Inverted Jenny Plate Block from 2005 to 2014.

And another item, the 24-Cent Inverted Jenny Plate Block, fetched $4.9m.

A plate block of the 24 cent Inverted Jenny stamp, which was issued in 1918 for the first U.S. air mail letters, sold for $4.9 million.

The “Three Treasures” sale also includes the British Guiana One-Cent Magenta stamp and a plate block of the “Inverted Jenny” stamp.

The quartet, known to collectors as the “plate block,” is one of three rarities owned by Stuart Weitzman, the designer and entrepreneur known for creating strappy gladiator sandals, thigh-high boots and other shoes that have been worn by everyone from Kate Moss in his advertisements to Kate Middleton in paparazzi photos.
