The case against Wiederhorn, who donated approximately $40,000 to Trump’s political action committees and the Republican National Committee in the last two years, is still pending in federal court.

The rules around contributions to political action committees were much stricter: individuals could give no more than $2,500 and corporations and unions were prevented from donating.

Significant outside spending was pumped into the race, with political action committees contributing $4.4 million to support Min and $1.3 million in support of Baugh, according to Federal Election Commission filings.

In recent months conservative political action committees have spent $7.5 million opposing Min.

In the months leading up to election day, conservative political action committees have sent out half a dozen mailers to voters in the district all focused on Min’s record on criminal justice issues.
