Aggressive price cutting helped Tesla beat analysts’ estimates for sales in the October to December quarter, but BYD did even better.

As usual, Tesla’s sales consisted primarily of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, which have been made even more attractive by rounds of price cutting that have eaten into the company’s profit margins.

They are also fighting new drug price cutting rules from the Trump administration, which would reduce the industry’s profitability.

For those who like that, I have happy news: Google is getting really, really good at the price cutting, while still bringing quality, with its smartphones.
