He had been a singles skater but turning jumps into jives is not an overnight job.

The show sees celebrities paired with professional ice skaters to perform routines in front of a panel of judges.

"I think we're going to do all that we can to honour those skaters... that will be such an intention for all of us athletes there," Fear said.

Former Olympic figure skater Christopher Dean, who was involved in choreographing the showcase routines of all three finalists, told Aston that "tonight, everything came together".

"He started skating fairly later than other skaters, but because of his amazing talent, he progressed so quickly."
