Josh Baker's Worcestershire team-mates will play with his squad number on their shirts for the rest of the season in tribute to the spin bowler.

The Luton-born spin bowler had been planning to stand to become MP in West London's Ealing Southall constituency, where Labour's Virendra Sharma currently holds a 16,000 majority.

Worcestershire spin bowler Josh Baker has died at the age of 20.

And Pakistan spin bowler Usama Mir, who is due to rejoin Worcestershire for this summer's T20 Blast, posted on X, formerly Twitter: "So sad and upset to hear the news of Josh’s passing. He was one of the nicest people you could meet. And a brilliant cricketer."

"I was a very good spin bowler," added the former Northants, Sussex and Essex cricketer, who was part of the side that won the 2009 Ashes series.
