The 3D experience, which stereographer Jeremy Carroll told The Hollywood Reporter was designed to “make you feel like you’re in the water,” has been getting rave reviews.

Like Noé, Herzog didn’t think of using 3-D for his documentary “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” until just before production—and even then he never took a professional stereographer with him into the caverns.

So we had to make all the gear ourselves, and my stereographer custom-made it all.

We talk about what he does as a stereographer, his work on films like Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the work he did on the upcoming animated holiday movie Arthur Christmas, and what he set out to accomplish in the upcoming Men in Black III.
