Actor Teri Garr, who was Oscar-nominated for ‘Tootsie’ and stood out in ‘Young Frankenstein,’ died Tuesday after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Hollywood-born actor first began noticing symptoms while filming “Tootsie,” Today reported, but she didn’t receive a formal diagnosis until 1999 — nearly two decades and 11 doctors later.

Teri Garr, an actor with a flair for comedy who was known for film roles in “Young Frankenstein,” “Oh, God!” and “Tootsie,” a part that earned her an Oscar nomination, has died.

When she played Dustin Hoffman’s long-suffering girlfriend in the 1982 hit film “Tootsie,” New Yorker critic Pauline Kael called Garr “the funniest neurotic dizzy dame on the screen.”
