At its height, 10 fire engines and a turntable ladder were used to tackle the blaze, with residents advised to close all doors and windows.

The operation involved fire crews from Crymych, Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn, Whitland and Fishguard, a specialist turntable ladder from Haverfordwest, a water bowser from Milford Haven and the Urban Search and Rescue Team.

Four fire engines, a turntable ladder and more than 40 firefighters have been dealing with the blaze, Avon Fire and Rescue said.

At least 15 firefighters tackled the blaze using a turntable ladder and breathing apparatus.

Seven fire engines and a turntable ladder are at the scene and the road has been closed.
