Vaad Hatzalah for Ukrainian Jewry, based in New York City, says its new goal is to raise $20 million.

The group is coordinating its relief efforts with Vaad Hatzalah for Ukrainian Jewry, which Mr. Taylor described as “an umbrella organization set up by lay leaders to essentially identify the biggest needs of the crisis and allocate resources.”

The Las Vegas-based cocktail catering and bartending service’s Spiced Old Fashioned recipe is approved by Rabbi Tzvi Bronchtain, who is certified by the Vaad Hakashruet of Las Vegas and the Chabad of Southern Nevada, the brand told Fox News.

The conditions under which the Hasidic community experienced the first COVID-19 wave created a “perfect storm,” said Nesha Abramson, the director of community health outreach at Vaad Refuah, a Brooklyn-based patient advocacy center that primarily serves the local ultra-Orthodox population.

“The rules are very confusing. You have to be a Talmudist to figure out which program treats gifts from family as ordinary income,” said Rabbi Moshe Weisberg, the Lakewood head of what is called the Vaad, a self-governing council for the ultra-Orthodox community.
