Adobe is releasing Illustrator for the iPad today, delivering a streamlined version of its desktop vector graphics app that’s been redesigned to work with touch controls and a stylus.

Tapping into legendary developers as Atari, Data East, Taito, Piko, Jaleco and Nintendo, the unit offers arcade versions of many title genres such as shooters, fighters, sports sims, sidescrollers and board games as well as consoles classics from Super Nintendo, Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis, all in their retro, pixelated, sometimes vector graphics glory.

Its vector graphics were already outdated by the time I was 10, but that old box still allowed me pretend that some day I could fly in my own “Star Wars” ship.

Just in case you still have a competitive streak, this arcade machine features non-volatile memory that saves high scores, a built-in rechargeable battery for extra-long gaming time and a high-resolution screen optimized for vector graphics.

The first course is focused on Adobe Illustrator, which is a graphics-driven tool that's mainly used to create vector graphics like logos, cartoons, and fonts.
