This is a lovely trail through plantations of giant Wellingtonia trees, past a waterfall and along grassy glades.

Known as Villa Wellingtonia, this Art Nouveau estate was built in 1912 and is situated among other historic homes on the shores of Lake Lugano.

The 30m Wellingtonia was planted in the grounds of Wrest Park near Silsoe, Beds, in 1856 by Thomas de Grey.

There was a visit from the great Italian liberator, Garibaldi, who planted a wellingtonia at the Tennyson home on the Isle of Wight.

Sequoia, sē-kwoi′a, n. a small genus of gigantic evergreen coniferous trees belonging to California—Wellingtonia.
