They include various asclepias, tithonia, giant coneflower and the Maryland wild senna, the last a native plant deserving much more garden use.

The food plant of the species is chiefly wild senna or other kinds of Cassia.

There seem to be usually two broods and the caterpillars live upon leguminous plants, especially alfalfa, buffalo clovers, wild senna, and other species of Trifolium and Cassia.

The eggs are laid upon the leaves of clover and more especially upon some common species of Cassia, such as wild senna.
