The attack came as worshipers at the Sunni mosque gathered for zikr — an act of religious remembrance seen as heretical by some hard-line Sunni groups.

The place has a beautiful energy - i have been going for the Zikr ceremonies when i can for 3 years now.

And during Ramadan they have larger gatherings for people to break fast in the evening and several nights of zikr and prayers.

The word “Zikr” does not exist.

Sufis call this practice zikr and see it as a way of connecting with God and elevating themselves through communal meditation.
