Bookshop.org founder and CEO Andy Hunter joked that the e-books question has been the bane of his business’ social media manager’s existence for a while now.

About 450 Read Freely library cards have been issued nationwide, and 120 e-books have been checked out, according to the library.

Other services, including e-book access, the loaning system, Wi-Fi, printing and public computers remain unavailable.

Their combined research studies will soon be available with others in the open access journal, Frontiers of Veterinary Science, as a free e-book, Effective Options Regarding Spay or Neuter of Dogs.

And while devices are a good backup, e-books just don’t bring the same sense of security.
